The Vic Turns on Free Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi was generously funded by donors of the Victoria General Hospital Foundation. The project appealed to the Foundation because of its direct and significant impact on the patient experience. Keeping patients connected to their friends and family has become even more critical with the onset of the pandemic and resulting visitor restrictions.
Other partners in this project were the Capital Planning and Digital Health portfolios from Shared Health Manitoba, and the Facilities Management Department at the hospital. With their combined expertise and excellent teamwork, the project was completed on time and on budget.
It is now simple for our patients to log on to the MTS network using their own devices. To ensure the process is as easy as possible, there are no passwords and no fees. Patients already seem pleased by the convenience of being able to check their email, pay their bills and access other online resources.
Thanks again to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation and their donors for providing this important service to our patients. We are immensely grateful for this gift.
